Another must-see is the symbol of Brussels' fun and irreverent atmosphere, Manneken Pis, a famous bronze fountain sculpture dating back to 1619 that depicts a nude little boy. Depending on the season, the statue is often dressed in a costume with a wardrobe that consists of 760 items. The costumes are changed frequently in ceremonies that are often accompanied by brass band music. Brussels is a great base for popular day trips to the beautiful towns of Bruges, Ghent and Antwerp.

Upscale shopping venues offer ample opportunities for fashionistas, while Galeries Royales St-Hubert, a light and bright shopping arcade, features many boutique shops that are surrounded by restaurants and cafes.
